Nancy Garrett Barker

Nancy Garrett Barker age 57 passed away Tuesday March 16, 2010. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Orr officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Barker was born and spent most of her life in Baldwin County. She graduated from Baldwin County High School, Georgia Military College, Georgia College Nursing School and the Medical College of Georgia. She was inducted in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 1989. She worked in the children's department of Medical College of Georgia after graduation. She later served as head of the Children's Clinic at MCG. Upon returning to Milledgeville she worked at Baldwin County Hospital where she taught at the L.P.N. School. After Baldwin County Hospital became Oconee Regional Medical Center she worked as Director of the Education Department until her retirement in 2007. She was preceded in death by her father Raleigh Garrett.
Nancy loved people, and had a strong passion for animals and the outdoors.
Survivors include her mother Jean Garrett, her brother Larry Garrett and wife Claire, her nephew Raleigh Garrett, and her neice Lindsey Garrett all of Milledgeville along with her aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family request that fiends who wish to honor Nancy do so by making donation to their church or favorite charity in her honor.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm at Moores Funeral Home.
