He was the son of David Henry & Sarah Horner Applegate, much of his adult life he spent in Washington, he had retired from the Washington State Hospital and returned to this area 19 years ago. He was a member of the Mound Baptist Church of Elkhead.
His wife of 57 years preceded him in death on July 28, 1991, his parents, eleven brothers and sisters and a half bro and sister.
Surviving is a brother Melvis Applegate of Sparta,a half brother "Hobo" Applegate, Oldfield.
Services were in the Adams Funeral Home with Rev.Leo Thompson officiating with burial in the Jenkins Cemetery.
