Arlington, Mass. - James Michael ‘Jim' Niland Sr. of Belmont, died Sunday, Feb 24, 2008. He was the husband of Alice (Skovinski) Niland of the West End. He was the son of the late Margaret (Foley) and William Niland.He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired lieutenant of the Belmont Fire Department.He was the father of James "Jimmy" Michael Niland Jr. of Norfolk, Blanche Mary Niland-Maher of Ipswich, Kelly Ann Niland of Arlington, Nora Nellie Maher of Arlington, Thomas James Niland of New Hampshire, Madeline Callahan of Waltham, Molly Jean Niland of Waltham, Hannah Niland of Arlington, Jessie Alice Duncan of Winchester, Nellie Jane Niland of Wakefield, Neil Joseph Niland of Belmont, and Walter Skovinski Niland of Belmont. 17 grandchildren also survive him. He was the brother of William Niland Jr. of Framingham, Rita McCabe of New York, and the late Mary Johnson of California.
