Ruth was the daughter of Doctor Cicero Mead Hobby and Mary L. Parker. She married George Sabin Gibbs October 9, 1899. At the time of Ruth's death, a daughter, Mrs Jessie (George) Perkins and three sons, LCDR Robert H Gibbs; Capt George Gibbs and Capt David P. Gibbs, survived.
