Word was received of the death of Mrs. Olive Carpenter at 8 a.m March 23 in Eastern Star Home. Washington, D. C. She was 93 years old and the oldest in point of years' membership in tbe Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Cleo E. Boyd, 451 Goundry St., and Mrs. Gertrude Reynolds, Hickory, N. C. Internment will be in Arlington Cemetery in the grave of her son Lt. Richard Smith, Killed in Action in World War 1.
