Isabel passed away Tuesday. She was born on Aug. 5, 1948, in Mumford, Texas, to the late Baldo Sr. and Mary Cortez. Isabel was a lifelong resident of Lubbock. She was a Cursillista. She was a Catholic and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her stepfather, Ysidro Perez; a brother, Baldo Cortez, and two grandsons, Matthew Garcia and Gabriel Tobias.
She is survived by two sons, Victor Cortez, of San Antonio, and Gary Martinez, of Lubbock; seven daughters, Mary Cardenas, Margaret Vidales, Rachel Salas, Dorothy Tobias, Diana Martinez, all of Lubbock, Virginia Taylor and Rita Flores, both of Midland; two brothers, Gabriel Perez and Gilbert Espinoza, both of Lubbock; nine sisters, Trinidad Hernandez, Dominga Gaitan, Mary Ann Sandoval, Cruz Castillo, Alice Machen, Linda Martinez, Petra Perez, Gloria Vasquez, all of Lubbock, and Leonor Armandariz, of Odessa; three aunts, Senona Rodriguez, Chana Herrera, and Andrea Prieto, all of Lubbock; an uncle, Chono Montelongo, of Lubbock; a sister-in-law, Janie Cortez, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
