Georgetown (CNS) - Ashes of Mrs. Katha G. Canaday arrived in Georgetown Friday from Long Beach, Calif., for funeral rites at 10 a.m. Saturday at Houghton Funeral home, the Rev. C. E. Smith officiating. Burial [was] in Georgetown Cemetery. Mrs. Canaday was a former resident here and after her husand died in 1909, 10 years after they were married, she reared her four sons in Georgetown. A son, James, died in 1929. Daughter of James R. and Sarah Taylor Gadd, she was born here Nov. 16, 1867, and was married to J. Rice Canaday. She had been living with her sisters and her sons for some time. She died Sunday, Sept. 24, 1939, in California and her body was cremated. Surviving are three sons, Henry of Sarasota, Fla., Robert of Phoenix, Ariz., and
Joseph of Los Angeles; a brother and sister, Mrs. Laura Smith of Los Angeles and Frank Gadd of Georgetown. DANVILLE COMMERCIAL-NEWS, 29 Sept. 1939.
