Mrs. Meals graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1944 and West Chester State Teachers College in 1948. She briefly taught high school English and French in the West Chester public school system before relocating to Maryland following her marriage. She was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Md., where she was a member of the church choir, former Sunday School teacher and was the Women's Organization President for many years.
Survivors include her son, Stephen K. Meals of Brule, Wis.; two daughters, Deborah G. Campfield of Wilbraham, Mass., and Jill E. McGregor of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren and a brother, Luther A. Smith of Fairfield.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
