John Christopher Witt was a Member of Captain D.W. Roberts, Company D, Texas Ranger Frontier Battalion. He joined the unit in Junction on Dec 18, 1875 and completed his service on May 31, 1879. 2nd great grandfather was a blacksmith. He married Henrietta Elizabeth Lange on Sep 12, 1882 in Kerr County.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two children, Mrs. Jessie Roberts and Mr. J. Witt, Jr., both of San Antonio. Internment will be in the family plot in the Lutheran Cemetery.
