Eliza Mitchell was born July 23, 1868 at Sand Prairie, IL to James and Jane (Kelso) Mitchell. (1870 Census shows the family living in Rice Township, Jo Daviess County, IL. Eliza is 4, born in PA.) Orphaned early in life, she made her home with Thomas Adams of East Galena, IL until her marriage to Richard Wills in 1886. The family lived in Iowa for a few years, then moved back to Council Hill, IL. After Richard died in 1915, Eliza moved to Galena, IL until March 4, 1920, when she married Will Lowery and moved to Scales Mound, IL where she lived until her death, Feb. 11, 1936.
Mrs. Lowery is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Bastian, a son, Albert Wills, and a brother, Phillip Mitchell of Nora, IL.
