Daughter of David and Mary (Bangert) Hettinger, [Jr.] was born in Saraoff [Saratov][Dietel], Russia on Jan 2, 1887. Her death occurred at the Russell City Hospital on April 29, 1973. Her age was 86 years, 3 months and 22 days. Confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Russia, and AT the age of 19, she came with her parents to America and Russell County. She was united in marriage to Goerge Batt on March 29, 1910, at Lincoln, Nebraska. She assumed her duties as a homemaker and farm wife on the farm in south Russell County. There were six children born in this marriage all of whom survive her.
Mrs. Batt centered her interests in her home, and her family and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Bender Hill. Her standards of being a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend are reflected in her children and grandchildren, all of whom can be proud of the heritage she left them. And to cherish her memory are the six children, Herman, Robert, Freda (Mrs.. Jacob Dietz), all of Russell, Rudolph and Arthur, Hosington, and Walter Batt of Russell; her six grandchildren, three step grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also two sisters, Mrs. George (Eva) Strecker, Bazine, Kan. and Mrs. Lydia Lachman (Lackman), Sheridan, Wyo, one brother, Jacob Hettinger, Denver, Colo., Also many other relatives and friends. Also preceding her in death were six sisters, four brothers, and one grandchild. Pallbearers were Eugene Batt, Gary Batt, Dale Batt, Larry Batt, Howard DeWald, Gary Kilian.
