Arnold Julius Carl Koester was born on September 11, 1912 in Olney, in Young County, Texas to Fredrich Christoff Henrich "Henry" and Anna Caroline Hausler Koester. He was one of four children.

On October 28, 1937 he married Bertha Emma Zacharias in McGregor, in Coryell County, Texas. Arnold's brother, Edwin, dated and later married Bertha's younger sister Alice.

Arnold and Bertha had two children. Their son, Carlos Arnold, died as an infant. They also have a daughter Eline Lyndia. Arnold and Bertha raised their family in Olney, Texas.

Arnold was a loving son, brother, father, and uncle. He was my Great-Uncle. I loved visiting their house in Olney, Texas. They always had dogs and I remember their Pekingese and their Chow. I was afraid of the Chow but loved their Pekingese. Uncle Arnold was a nice and loving person. He and his family were devout Lutherans. He made me a keepsake box out of wood that I cherish and love.

Arnold died on October 11, 1995 in Olney, in Young County, Texas and was buried in the Restland Cemetery in Olney, in Young County, Texas. He is missed deeply and we know his love is always with us.
