James Kennedy had 3 known wives:
Marietta Taylor Kennedy which he married on Nov. 8, 1868 in Woodsfield, Monroe, Ohio. Together they had 11 children, 3 dying during infancy. The surviving children were:

Marietta died on 28 Apr 1888 just two days after giving birth to their last child, which also passed.
James then married Nancy Ada Carrothers in 1889 and apparently did not have any children with her. She died on 18 Nov 1889.
James married Elizabeth Francis Love in 1892. Together, James and Elizabeth had 4 children:
