Mrs. Sallie Smith
Mrs. Sallie Smith, a resident of the New Salem community, died last Friday at the age of 69 years, and was buried at the New Salem cemetery Saturday, Rev. B. B. Blaylock officiating. Deceased was the mother of 13 children, 12 living, and 10 of them present at her death. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church for 35 years.


Died
Mrs. Sallie L. Smith, widow of James W. Smith, died Jan. 28, at the family home, 5 miles southeast of Rockdale, where she had lived for 35 years. She was born in Macon county, Ala., June 3, 1847, and was married to James W. Smith in 1867. To this union 13 children were born, all of whom are living except one who died in 1881. Of the 12 living children, 10 were at her bed side when the Death Angel came to relieve her of her suffering. She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters. She was a consecrated Christian, uniting in early childhood with the Methodist Church. thirty-five years ago she united with the Harmony Baptist Church, of which she was a member at her death. Sister Smith was known far and wide for her devotion to her children and her helpfulness to her friends and neighbors. Rev. B. B. Blaylock, of Cameron, conducted the funeral services at the grave. burial being made in the old New Salem cemetery.
