Abilene, Texas -- Ovie Gilbreath Barnes, 89, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 in a local medical center.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22nd in Potosi Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends as a visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ovie was born August 8, 1920 to Sara (Zachry) and Adron Henry Gilbreath in Potosi, Texas. She attended Wylie and Abilene schools. Ovie married Johnnie Barnes on June 1, 1962. She was employed by Excelsior's Cleaners as a silk finisher for 10 years. Ovie loved to go fishing and dancing. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Ovie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Henry Gilbreath.

Survivors include four nephews, Chris Gilbreath of Valero, California, Larry Pennick of Fort Worth, Texas, Tim Gilbreath of New Braunfels, Texas, and Vincent Gilbreath of Piersall, Texas; a brother, Otis Gilbreath and wife, Loma Gayle, of Coleman, Texas; a sister-in-law, Billie Faye Pennick; and a brother-in-law, Eddie Gene Barnes and wife, Jeannie, of Canton, Texas.
