Adelbert LaVoir Austin, 83, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his home after a long but brave fight.
He was born October 2, 1926 in Trenton, Utah, the only child of Adelbert and Jane Abbott Austin. He graduated from Ogden High and attended Weber State College. He joined the United States Navy during World War II and served on the U.S.S. Guam, where he experienced many battles in the Pacific Theater; including Kamikaze attacks. One of his sad but lasting memories of the war were the burials at sea.
He started working for Utah Power and Light at age 16. He retired after 40 years as an electrician. He loved his work and made life-long friends. When he first started working they gave him the name of "Hoolie" after an old comic strip called "Happy Hooligan".
On September 3, 1948, Adelbert married Carol Brown in Ogden, Utah. They were married for 61 years and they have six children, Vicki A. Simmons, Debra A. Potter, Wendy S. Austin, twin boys, Brett B. and Brad B. Austin and Danica A. Clark. They have seven grandchildren, Sarina S. Warren, Casey A. Potter, Channel A. Balch, Brandyn J. Austin, Brock A. Clark, Shylie Austin, Caida C. Clark and two great-grandchildren, Tayler K. Potter and Braxton A. Bruch.

Adelbert was preceded in death by his parents, and two sweet daughters, Vicki and Debbie.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, two daughters, Wendy and Danica and two sons, Brett and Brad.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Trenton Cemetery, Utah.
