IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Barbara Hanks Arave, 80, of Idaho Falls, died peacefully in the arms of her husband on February 20, 2010 at her home.

She was born April 8, 1929 in Shelley, Idaho to Frank and Leah Jensen Hanks. She grew up in the Shelley area and graduated from Shelley High School. She continued her education at Grooms Beauty School in Idaho Falls.

On September 25, 1947 she married Doyle Frank Arave in Taylor. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 30, 1993. Doyle and Barbara raised three children in Idaho Falls and were active in the family's activities.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for many years at the Savings Center for Vern Kelsch and later at Ahlstrom's Furniture until her retirement in 1983. Barbara enjoyed crocheting, knitting, fishing, and playing Pinochle with her friends. Barbara's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, role model, and inspiration to all. Granny loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was loved dearly by all.

12 Grandchildren & 14 Great Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Victor and Lynn Hanks, Sisters Lucille Heslington, Viola Dick, Venice Woodhouse, Mildred Kershaw, Dorothy Adams, and daughter-in-law Laurie Arave.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Wood Funeral Home,, 273 North Ridge Ave., with Bishop Randy Lords of the Ammon LDS Second Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends and extended family from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery
