Obituary in THE TIMES AND DEMOCRAT, Orangeburg, SC, 1 Nov 2002: Orangeburg - Joseph Neil Jones, 48, of 398 Northridge, Orangeburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, Orangeburg, with Father John A. (Jay) Parker Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Family Cemetery, in Sawyerdale Community. Pallbearers will be John Thompson, Mike Craven, Frank Wright, Randy Poston, Mark Kukelkorn, Donald Jennings, Richard (Andy) Mole, Mike Mazarick, Travis Rhoad and Jorge Silva Jr. Mr. Jones was born March 16, 1954, in Orangeburg, a son of Joe Jones and Joy Hodge Jones. He was a graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and attended two years of college at Showan Jr. College, in Murphysburg, N.C. He was a member of Dogwood Ministries Cresent Hill Chapel. He was also a member of A.R.R.L. and C.H.A.O.S. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Brenda Jennings Jones of the home; two daughters, Michelle Levin Jones of Rock Hill, formerly of Orangeburg and Kathryn Elizabeth Jones of Orangeburg; one grandson, Donavan O'Neil Jones of Rock Hill and formerly of Orangeburg; one sister, Leslie Joy Jones of Orangeburg; three brothers, James Richard 'Dick' Jones of Scottsburg, Ala., Jeffrey Jones of Sharpsburg, Ga. and Jason Theodore 'Ted' Jones of Salley; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Joy) Jones of Orangeburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, Brookland Campus, 3105 Five Chop Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or to the American Lung Association of SC, PO Box 1609, Columbia, SC 29202-1609.
