Mrs. Maddox was born August 10, 1918 in Coffee County, Georgia, a daughter of Annie Kate Howard Nelson and Thomas James Nelson. She departed this life Friday, June 12, 2009 at Altus House Health Facility of Atlanta. She was a homemaker and a member of Dixie Hill First Baptist Church, serving faithfully for many years with a special love for young people and ministers of the gospel. Mrs. Maddox attended Washington High School, further studies including evening classes with an interest in healthcare.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Maddox, Sr. Survivors include a son, the Reverend Robert Maddox, Jr. (Eula), Atlanta, Ga., two daughters, Linda Patrick and Peggy Maddox, both of Columbus, Ga., a devoted nephew, Derrick Hall (Michelle), Atlanta, Ga., a nephew, David Nelson, a niece Thelma Hendley, other life-long friends, Dee Garrison, Greg Breden, Farris Thomas, Charlie Davis, Mattie Cox, several grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and loving friends.
