HAPPY - Maurine Allison, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Methodist Church of Happy with the Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor of First Baptist Church of Happy, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.

Mrs. Allison was born July 20, 1922, in Bronte to Ira and Sibyl Prewitt. They made their home in Bronte for six years and then moved to Happy. She attended Happy schools and graduated from Happy High School in 1940.

Upon graduation she attended Texas Technological College in Lubbock and then attended Draughon's Business College. She married D.L. Allison in Ralls on June 25, 1942.

They resided in San Diego, Calif., where they worked at Consolidated Aircraft Co. They returned to Happy and began farming. She continued to live in Happy until March 2002.

Mrs. Allison's life interests included researching family genealogy and volunteerism. She was very active in First Baptist Church in Happy, was the Happy Ex-Student Association Secretary, held offices in PTA, the Swisher County Historical Society and Randall County Home Demonstration Club.

She was honored as one of the "Seven Who Care" in the Texas Panhandle, 1986. Mrs. Allison had been at Bivins Memorial Home since April 19, 2002.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D.L. Allison, in 1991; and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Jim Allison and wife, Rinda, of Amarillo; a daughter, Linda Schrib and husband, Jimmy, of Canyon; a sister, Ernestine and Vilo Danner of Happy; four grandchildren, Wes and Jennifer Allison of Hewitt, Wendy Allison of Arlington, Lanny and Missy Schrib and Laura and Dustin Turner, all of Houston; a great-grandchild, Bailey Allison; and 23 nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, building fund, P.O. Box 95, Happy, TX 79042; the Happy Ex-Student Association, Happy ISD, P.O. Box 458, Happy, TX 79042; or the Bivins Memorial Nursing Home, 1001 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
