Cpl. Uri (Levi) M. Barber of Galien, Berrien County, had enlisted at the age of 30 into Co. G, 26th Michigan, and had been taken prisoner at Spotsylvania on May 12, 1864. He died on September 23, 1864, while a prisoner at Andersonville, Georgia and is buried in the National Cemetery in Grave # 9553. Hiram and Chauncey Barber also served in the 26th Michigan.

Levi survived the War.
