MAYODAN, NC – Reginald Maxwell Alley, 84, of 103 Long Street, died Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Crews and Dr. Arnold Cook officiating. Interment followed in Woodland Cemetery with military honors by Rockingham County Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.
Mr. Alley was born May 26, 1925, in Rockingham County, to the late Oscar Cecil and Margaret Martin Alley.
He graduated from Mayodan High School and was a WWII US Navy veteran Y3.
He was a member of Woodbine Baptist Church and retired from Gem Dandy Inc.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Webb Alley; brothers, Paul Alley and Dallas Alley, and sister, Helen Connelly.
Mr. Alley is survived by daughters, Charlotte Alley Shelton of Martinsville, VA, and Kathy Alley Peay Everette of Madison; grandchildren, Ryan Shelton, Caroline P. Holland (T. J.), and R. Craven Peay III (Jennifer); step-grandchildren, Brad Everette (Kim), Brian Everette (Sherry); great-grandchildren Ally Shelton, Emma Kate Harrison, Aiden Shelton, Lydia Peay and Sidney Shelton; step great-grandchildren Andrew Holland, Pattie Everette, and Lillie Everette.
