Jeanette Dene 'Jan' Adams

WALLA WALLA - Jeanette Dene "Jan" Adams, 68, of Milton-Freewater died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Milton-Freewater. Interment will follow at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Ms. Adams was born Jan. 31, 1942, in Hermiston to Alveron Afton and Marguerite Isabell (Tool) Adams. While living in Payette, Idaho, at the age of four and a half, her mother passed away. She moved to Gooding, Idaho, where she and her twin Gene lived with her father's oldest sister. After graduating from Gooding High School in 1960, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she attended Westminster College. After a year and a half, a shortage of funds forced her to enter the work force and she learned bookkeeping while working at a product company and later an auto parts company.
In 1985 she moved to Milton-Freewater, where for several years she worked part-time at odd jobs. In 1987 she enrolled at Walla Walla Community College, earning an associate's degree as a medical secretary; she was honored as the vocational student speaker at her graduation. She worked the next 17 years as a medical transcriptionist for the Walla Walla Clinic, St. Mary Medical Center and various companies serving the St. Mary Medical Center system before retiring due to ill health.
Ms. Adams is survived by sisters Greta Adams of Bend, Della Howard of Tremonton, Utah, Rosa Nelson of Estacada, Nona Paskett of Salem, Utah and Vivian Hansen of Smithfield, Utah; brothers Robert Adams of Clovis, Calif., and Jack Adams of Portland; dear friend Doris Hansen of Milton-Freewater; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and -nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Richard, Charles and fraternal twin Gene Adams; and sisters Barbara Clark and Alice Lee.
