Andrew J. Browder was born in Wayne County in 1874. His surviving siblings included Mrs. Lula Hallenbeck of Macomb, Mrs. Edith Pitha of O'Fallon, Mrs. Minnie Rednour of Ava, and William Browder of East St. Louis.

In 1900 he married Belle Johnston; she died in 1913. He later married Mary Rhodes Hall in 1922; she survives. His surviving children include Mrs. Dovie Marlow of Cleveland, OH; Mrs. Bessie Donnell of Wolf Lake; John of Wolf Lake; and Kendall of Uneeda, WV. Also surviving was a stepson, Theodore Hall of Garden City, MI. His son, Charles, was killed in World War II. A daughter also preceded him in death.

Mr. Browder was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a farm resident in western Jackson County most of his life.

Mr. Browder died at the age of 87 on Tuesday, July 11, 1961 in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. His funeral service was held at Wilson Funeral Home. Rev. W. W. Thurman offficiated.

Andrew J. Browder, 87, of Ava died today in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro after an extended illness.

He was born in Wayne County in 1874, and was a farm resident in western Jackson County most of his life.

Mr. Browder was married in 1900 to Belle Johnston, who died in 1913. He was later married in 1922 to Mary Rhodes Hall, who survives.

He also leaves daughters Mrs. Dovie Marlow of Cleveland, Ohio and Mrs. Bessie Donnell of Wolf Lake; sons John of Wolf Lake and Kendall of Uneeda, W. Va.; a step-son Theodore Hall of Garden City, Mich.; 23 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Lula Hallenbeck of McComb, Mrs. Edith Pitha of O'Fallon, and Mrs. Minnie Rednour of Ava, and brother, William of East St. Louis.

A son, Charles, was killed in World War II, and a daughter also preceded him in death.

Mr. Browder was a member of the Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava after 7 p.m. Wednesday until services Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. W. W. Thurman will officiate. Burial will be in the Buchanan Cemetery in Degognia Township.
