WM. F. ALLENDER, EMBARRASS PIONEER IS BURIED WEDNESDAY
After an illness of several days duration William F. Allender passed away at his home in Embarrass Monday afternoon, Aug. 16. Mr. Allender's passing comes as a sad shock to his many relatives and friends who will remember him as one who was always ready to help his fellow man with a kind word or deed.
Mr. Allender was born in the town of Waukechon, Shawano county, Dec. 18, 1857. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allender, pioneer settlers there. He married Ella Webster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Webster, April 2, 1882. After his marriage Mr. Allender, in company with F. C. Webster and son George Webster, built a saw mill at Belle Plaine and entered into the lumbering business there. At Belle Plaine a son, William and a daughter, Bessie were born. Both died in infancy.
Mr. Allender disposed of his interest in the saw mill and moved to Embarrass where he built the home in which he and Mrs. Allender have lived in for the past 48 years. Here two daughters, Hazel and Irene, and a son, Clair were born. Clair died in infancy.
For thirty years Mr. Allender was a lumber scaler. He worked for various lumber companies in different parts of the state. He retired six years ago.
The funeral services were held at Embarrass Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 2:00 o'clock at the Allender home and at 2:30 at the Congregational church. The Rev. Ben Plopper of Green Bay officiated.
The pallbearers were: Walter Liesch, Kenneth Liesch, Donald Liesch, William Liesch, Keith Liesch and Al Tellock.
Mr. Allender is survived by his wife Ella and his two daughters, Mrs. W. W. Liesch of Laona and Mrs. A. C. Tellock of Embarrass.
