Iram James was born in New South Wales, Australia on April 26, 1863. His parents were John Robert James and Elizabeth Florella Brien. On April 27, 1887 he married Christiana Rosina Kurtz. In the late 1890's Iram met and worked for Ellen G White of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She returned to the United States and offered Iram employment as her master gardener at her Elmshaven estate in St. Helena, Napa, CA. In Dec 1900 Iram, Christiana and their 6 children sailed for San Francisco and immigrated to America. Iram and Christiana were very devout in their faith. They raised a total of 13 children. Christiana died in 1934 and Iram died April 10, 1939. They are buried in the St. Helena Public Cemetery, St. Helena, California.
