1870 Census states Nathan was living with wife Mary and daughter, Rachel b1873 and 8 yr old Martha Burdge. Mary (Burdge) Thorp was age 19 so Martha is most likely her sister. I do not have any proof of other children before Rachel.

Parents Nathan Thorp Jr. (1-1847 Quincy, Adams Co, IL -1930 Marion Co. IN.) and Mary E. Burge m1868, Marion Co, IN. She died before 1887 (when he married 2nd wife?) maybe in childbirth. Buried with Nathan? Was told she died, not divorced. 1880 Marion Co, IN census shows her with 3 children.
Their children
?Baby died.
1871 ABT Charles (Amanda, married 1900, Amanda born 1873 -died 1903, maybe in childbirth?, buried Fort Wayne), they lived in Joliet, IL. He not mentioned in father Nathan's obit in 1930, only in wife Amanda's obit in 1903. Died between 1903 and 1930 before father or accidentally omitted?

1873 Rachel "Rackey" (Edward) Petro, Born Quincy, Adams Co, Illinois, moved 1931 to Kansas City, MO 20 yrs. until her death 1951. Maybe lived in Illinois before that.

Nathan Thorp's 2nd wife Ida C. (Shannon) Thatcher, married after 1887 when she got divorce from 1st husband after he left her and newborn & didn't come back.
1909 She worked restaurant,
1920 kept rooming house.
Nathan was liquor dealer & merchant.
She is in Indiana Soldiers Home Cemetery. Various references show she spelled her last name with an E Thorpe. Some family members used E some did not, even in same document like relative's obit.

Margaret "Maggie" (1yr?) (husband George Fling) and other people.)
His father might have had a brother William D. Thorp born Decatur Co, IN 1808 whose family stayed in Decatur, IN. 1860 Marion Co, Wayne Twp, IN census Nathan Sr. and new wife? are living next to George Fling. Sister Margaret married George Fling in 1873 when ABT 23yrs.

His grandparents might be Nathan Thorp I born ABT 1795, died 1874. (1840 and 1850 Decatur Co, IN census shows sons Chauncey and Daniel are with Nathan Sr.
