Thornton Alvey
Thornton E. Alvey, 94, of the High Point community, died at 12:18 a.m Friday at Western Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Alvey was a member of High Point Pentecostal Church and was a retired security guard for Essex Wire Co.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Mae Bobo Alvey; five sons, Edmond Alvey Jr., Earnest L Alvey and Charles L Alvey, all of Paducah, Billy Joe Alvey of Pasadena, Calif., and Kenneth L Alvey, serving with the Peace Corps in South Africa; four daughters, Aline Butler, Mary E. Kern and Phyllis K. Cox, all of Paducah, and Janice R. Ellis of Houston, Texas; one brother, Henry Alvey of Paducah; two sisters, Zelphyr Harris and Lillie Burgess, both of Paducah; 10 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. His parents were Tom and Maudie Cron Alvey.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lindsey Funeral Home. The Rev. Denver Shelton will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday.
