This family lived in Illinois for two years, where the wife and mother passed to the Glory World. The family then returned to Ohio, where on March 31,1869(?) Mr. Patterson married Ruth Ann Rockholder, who died August 4, 1881(?) leaving only one son who is living. After two years he on May 3, 1883(?) married his present wife Rachel E. Shackelbord(?) of this union three sons and one daughter was born.
Bro. Patterson was early in his life impressed with the need of the Divine life. For a time it was his daily practice in life to hold morning and evening devotions in his home. Altho (sic) being unable to speak during his last weeks, he would each evening motion his family together at prayer before retiring.
Many relatives and friends together with his loving and devoted wife who like an angel of mercy had cheerfully attended him to the last, are left to mourn his departure.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in McGuffey, April 6 at 1 o'clock conducted by the Rev. J.F. Newcomb. Internment took place in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
