Jacob Furry Altvater was born on May 3, 1883 in Baltimore a son of William and Annie Elizabeth Bouchat Altvater and was the husband of Lydia Ann Staub Altvater who survives him.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Jacob Furry Altvater Jr. and two daughters, Lydia Louise Geisbert and Charlotte Louise Boone and predeceased by one son, Richard Altvater and one daughter, Catherine Marie Black.

Jacob was one of seven children born to William and Annie Elizabeth Altvater of which six were raised to adulthood, Grace Altvater Cathcart, William L. Altvater, Charles Altvater, Milburn M. Altvater and Rosa Elizabeth Altvater --?-- and Jacb Furry Altvater and the seventh is presently unknown.
