Christine "Grannie" Franklin Barnes, 88, of Tuckasegee, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at her residence.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church, of which she was a member, with the Revs. Jeff Powell and Jim Ed Powell officiating.
Burial will follow in Tuckasegee Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Fannie Bell Ashe Franklin. She was a former food service employee at Western Carolina University, and she enjoyed quilting and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hampton Barnes; one daughter, Dorothy Barnes Franks; four brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Barnes Powell of Tuckasegee, and Kathy Barnes Webb of Sylva.
