Enlisted as a private in Co. D, 7th Virginia Cavalry, 4/1/62 at Luray, Va. Hired as a substitute for Charles W. Dovel. Present 11 – 12/62. Absent 4/1/64 on detached service, 10 days since 3/24/64. Present 4/30/64. Present 5/1/1864 – 8/31/1864. Post war resident and carpenter in Winchester, Va. Moved to Kansas and Missouri before finally settling in Turkey Ford, Oklahoma. Brother of Charles Robert Hilliard.
