Genevieve Louise Castrodale, the daughter of Dr. Reid and Genevieve Smith Wilson, died Nov. 25, 2006, in Green Ridge Village, Newville.

Born Sept. 12, 1907, in Brookville, she graduated from Brookville High School and entered the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago at age 16. There she pursued the study of music, graduating in 1926. That year she married Milford Walter Castrodale.


In 1928, they went to the Philippine Islands where they both taught in the Doane Bible Institute, of which he was director. Following their return from the Philippines, she was an active participant in her husband's Presbyterian pastorates in Nickleville, Franklin, Edinboro, Rochester, Philadelphia and West Grove until retirement in 1964.


She and her husband moved to Green Ridge Village, Newville in 1981. Reverend Castrodale died in 1998 and her son Milford W. Castrodale Jr. in 1997.

She is survived by a sister Virginia Plyler; two daughters, Dr. Genevieve Carpenter and Anne Golovin; a daughter-in-law, Emily Castrodale; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a service in Brookville Cemetery where she will be buried in a family grave along with her husband.
