Gloria V. Lewis passed away recently and gently at the age of 82 at her home in Cave Creek, Arizona.

She was born in Portales, New Mexico on September 29, 1927, to Dewey P. (Blackie) Morrison and Sarah E. (Sadie) Six. Gloria spent the early years of her life in New Mexico, attending high school there as well as being baptized in the Baptist Church.

She moved to Lubbock, Texas after graduation to attend business school and later became married to Bill T. Jenkins and had two sons, Jon and Steve. Life changed and she and her boys moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1963 where she continued her work in the newspaper business. It was there that she met Carl A. (Curly) Lewis and they were married for many years, until both retired to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990.

Gloria loved her family deeply, every one of them. She truly enjoyed all her roles in the family as a daughter, sister, mom, aunt, and grandmother, and recently as great-grandmother. Nothing made her more excited and happy than visiting and enjoying the company of family and friends. Many fondly called her Poo.

She also enjoyed the entertainment of casinos. She encouraged both of her sons to work in the gaming industry, which they still do.

Gloria now joins those family and friends whose departure preceded hers and is survived by her sister, Darlene (Mrs. Gordon Brown, of Lubbock, Texas); sons, Jon Jenkins, of Cave Creek, Arizona and Steve Jenkins, of Cloverdale, California; grandchildren Jonathan, Miranda, Britney, Jordan, Carlo, Jak; and great-grandchild, Jaden; as well as loving nieces, nephews and other special family and friends that blessed her life by sharing theirs with her.

She spoiled us all with her love and caring nature while she was with us and left us with the wonderful memory of her spirit, personality, sense of humor and intelligence. She always had time for us, she always spent time with us and was always there for us until the second she departed this life. She loved God and her country and her family and friends very much and enjoyed her life that God so graciously gave her. May her soul be in His care now and forever and ever.

The Gloria Lewis services were recently held graveside for family and friends and she was laid to rest at the Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale.
