son of George Washington Huckabay, Sr. - Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Tinsley

Dr. Huckabay came to Denton to visit the Thomas Greene family who were friends from Georgia. It was because of that visit that he later moved to Denton County and later to Jack County, Texas.

Jacksboro people were saddened last Saturday morning when it became known that Dr. F.G. Hucakabay had passed away Friday night, the 14th, in a sanitarium in Fort Worth, where he had been for treatment. He had been in ill health for many months, and had, by the advice of physicians, retired from practicing medicine some time previous to his death.

Dr. Huckabay came to Jacksboro from Georgia in 1898 and began immediately the practice of his profession, and at the time of his retirement he had a very large practice which extended into all parts of the county, and he had won for himself hosts of friends among those who knew him. He was a good citizen as well as a successful physician. He was an active member of the Baptist Church as long as his health permitted; he was a Mason, Knight Templar, and member of the W.O.W. and each of these organizations will miss him from among their number.

Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Hensley went to Fort Worth Saturday and accompanied Mrs. Huckabay and family on their return home bringing with them the remains of Dr. Huckabay.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, where he was a member, Sunday afternoon at 5:00. The sermon was preached by pastor, Rev. J.A. Matthews, after which the Knights Templar and Masons took charge of the service. The church was packed with friends from all parts of the county and the largest body of Masons that perhaps ever met in Jacksboro took part in the burial service at Oakwood cemetery.

Survived by his wife; one daughter - Mrs. D.E. Morgan of Wichita Falls, two sons - Gerald and Frank Huckabay.

Among the relatives and old time friends of the family at the funeral were: S.O. Crawford and daughter, Miss Bernice of Graford; cousin of Mrs. Huckabay; Mrs. Lowrance and son, John McMurtry, cousins of Mrs. Huckabay; F.M. Bailey, John Garrison of Oran, George and Bush Bailey, Miss Elsie Rider of Graford.
