Margaret Ann Landon was born in Liberty, Tioga county, Pennsylvania June 18, 1854. When eight years of age, she moved with her parents to Illinois where she resided six years, then moved to Nebraska, where she lived for the past fifty six years. The family came overland from Pennsylvania to Illinois and from there to Nebraska, driving the same team all the way. She was married to W. A. Loder on Dec. 31, 1871. To this union were born five children, Ily E. Pennington of Lincoln, Ira A. Loder and Henrietta S. Beale of Waverly and Margaret and Nellie, twin daughters who passed away in infancy. Her husband, W. A. Loder, passed away March 14, 1899. She was a member of the Congregational church the greatest part of her life.
