Robert J. Atwood

BRANDON - Robert John Atwood, age 81, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Atwood was born in Saxtons River on January 11, 1929. He was the son of N. Harvey and Ruth (Lawrence) Atwood. In his earlier years he had work farming. He afterwards worked in the custodial department at Brattleboro Retreat. He later moved to Bomoseen and worked for Valerie Poremski at Edgewater Inn on Lake Bomoseen. He has been a resident of Brandon since 2003. He enjoyed rug making, story telling, old time music and traveling and just being part of the family.

Surviving are his care providers Cim and Greg Clark, of Brandon with whom he has made his home and their children; Sam, Tiff and Cameron and his extended family Theda (Grammy) Rouse and Sanford (Pop) Rouse, his aunt Elva Rice of Saxtons River and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Atwood and a sister Shirley Atwood.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 12 noon at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church will officiate. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date, in the family lot, at Saxtons River Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11 AM until service time at 12.
