Franklin Headley died at his home in Perry township, Greene county, Penn'a, Sept. 24th, aged 47 years, and 11 months, of stomach trouble. He was born and raised on a part of the farm where he lived and was an excellent citizen. He was a member of the M. E. church and lived a consistent life. He was a son of Elijah and Mary Headley, deceased. Two brothers preceeded him. One of them a soldier in the late war gave his life for his country. Three brothers and three sisters survive him. His illness began about a year ago. During that time his suffering at times was intense. But he was a patient sufferer and trusted in his Savior for relief. All that medical skill and kind friends could do was of no avail. His Master bade him come up higher and he only waited the coming of the angels to carry him to his heavenly home. As we stood around his death bed and saw the sweet smiles on his face and heard him talk of going home to be at rest with Jesus it was hard indeed to part. But sorrow will come no more. A wife and five children are left mourning the loss of a kind husband and loving father. The funeral was held on Sabbath at 2 o'clock, p.m., and was attended by a very large concourse of people. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Walter Barren, assisted by Rev. Morris, after which the remains were laid to rest to await the resurrection morn.
