Helen (Anderson) Alberda, 84, of Bozeman passed away on Monday, April 12, 2004. Helen was born on Oct. 11, 1919, in Anaconda to John and Minnie Anderson. She grew up in Anaconda and came to Bozeman to attend Montana State College, where she met her spouse, Peter B. Alberda. They had been married for 62 years.

In 1941 they moved to Seattle, Wash., where their three children were born. They moved back to the Gallatin Valley in 1948. She finished her education and began her teaching career in home economics of 24 years, three in Belgrade and 21 in Manhattan.

For the last 25 years she and Pete were active participants of Christian Center in Bozeman. During some of that time she led weekly church services at Gallatin County Rest Home and was a member of the Gallatin County Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her husband, Pete; children, LaVonne (Roger) Schell of Pacific Grove, Calif., Dale (Janene) Alberda of Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and Carolee (Roy) Ehresmann of Livingston; plus 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Hills Cemetery near Churchill. A reception is planned for 3:30 p.m. at the Christian Center, 921 W. Mendenhall St.

Memorials may be made to Christian Center in Bozeman, or to a charity of choice
