Violet J. "Shoena" Guidry Chapman, 67, of Dayton, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dayton with burial following at the Wells Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Violet was born August 30, 1942 in Rosedale, to parents; Joseph Wildon and Estreen Fontenot Guidry, a former resident of Louisiana, and has resided in Dayton for the past 45 years. She was a homemaker, member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, participant in many youth and prayer groups, and enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, collecting, and church activities.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Earlist "BaBa" Chapman, Jr., and brothers: Anthony and William Guidry. She is survived by her sons: Steve Chapman and wife JoAnn of Baytown and Jimmy R. "Bobby" Chapman of Ville Platte, LA, daughter: Katherine Courtney and husband William, Jr. of Opelousas, LA, sisters: Rose Mary Cherry, Rosa Lee LeBlanc, Esther Guidry, and Georgia Hilts, grandchildren: Teala Chapman, Jerimey Chapman, Calindra Chapman, Carol Davon, Joseph Chapman, Felton Thomas, Jr., Michael Jackson, Tasha M. Green, Alonzo R. Green, Kevin J. Green, and Patrick J. Green, godson: Gilbert Daniels, and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchidlren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
