Mary Jane was born in England. The family first migrated to Canada, then to the United States. They settled In Mass. ; then Rhode Island, then North Carolina, before they came to Augusta, Georgia. I was told by a family member, they came because John Kniveton was to oversee the opening of a new cotton Mill. Sometime after the death of Mary Jane, the famly moved back north.

Mary Jane Kniveton Brown died in Augusta, Georgia. She was the wife of Edward Eve Brown, having been married only about a year, and was the daughter of John Kniveton and Hannah Barlow Kniveton. She lived in Woodlawn at 1492 Watkins Street. She died soon after the birth of her first and only child, John Edward Brown. She had been ill for several weeks. She is buried at Magnolia Cemetery.
