Rev. Jonathan Brown was born in Phippsburgh, ME in 1772, and in childhood removed to Thomaston, where at the age of twelve, he was converted and baptized. About the year 1803 he began to preach. He was ordained to the Free Baptist ministry in 1808. He was afflicted through much sickness in his family, but as far as possible, he prosecuted his holy calling. He died at his residence in Bowdoinham, ME, Sept. 10, 1850, after a brief illness, aged 78 years."

The 1850 Lincoln Co. (Bowdoin) Fed. census shows he (age 76,sic 78) and Sally, age 80, with Jonathan, 44y (prob. Jr); then Phebe 49y; Sally 42y, and Sarah J. 22y. Hard to say but I believe this younger Sally, is Junior's wife, as there is a marriage record which appears to be theirs. Rev. Jonathan, is age 68 in 1840 Maine census, and on a Maine Pensioner's List, showing Mil. Service: Vet. Don't know if he was a Revolutionary soldier or not. There are other Jonathan's in same county, but birth dates do not match for this record.
