Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Chappell Davis, age 90, a resident of Columbia, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 29th, at NHC/Hillview.

Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 2nd at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points and Rev. Steve Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born on July 10, 1919 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Minnie Boshers Chappell and the wife of Thomas A. Davis, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, an avid Bible reader, loved listening to Gospel music on WXRQ radio, loved flowers, her church and visiting others in the nursing home. Mary was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her son: Tommy Davis of Columbia; two sisters: Helen Douglas of Mt. Pleasant and Ruth Dean Murrell of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister: Effie Lee Curtis and four brothers: Maury Chappell, Elmer Chappell, Allie Chappell and William Chappell.

Pallbearers will be William Holden, Joe Holden, Derick Boyd, Jeff Graham, Richie Graham, Brian Graham, Norman Wayne Davis and Hugh John Graham.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Rev. Phillip Wright, First Church of the Nazarene, employees and staff of NHC/Hillview, Dr. Cummins Couch, Karen Perry and their staff.
