Donald's obituary appeared in the January 30, 1997 issue of the Butler County Tribune Journal, Allison, Butler County, Iowa:

"Donald Turner

Donald Turner, 83, of Shell Rock, died Thursday evening, January 23, 1997, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital.

Donald was born the son of Ralph and Hattie (Jaquis) Turner on January 30, 1914, at Swanton, Iowa. He moved with his parents to a farm west of Shell Rock at the age of three. He attended school in Shell Rock, graduating from high school in 1932.

On May 25, 1937, Don was united in marriage to Mae Cuvelier in Nashua. They farmed west of Shell Rock, retiring in 1976 when they moved to Shell Rock. On June 4, 1995, Don entered the Shell Rock Health Care Center.

He was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, rural Clarksville, where he served as Elder and trustee. He was a former member of the Unity Mariners Club and a member of the Shell Rock Sportsmans Club.

Don is survived by his wife, Mae; (Rest of names of survivors not included for reasons of privacy.)

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Rolland Turner.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 27, 1997, at Unity Presbyterian Church, rural Clarksville, with Rev. Reuben J. Topp officiating. Organist Lola Clark accompanied congregational hymns "My Faith Looks Up To Thee", "All The Way My Savior Leeds Me", and "It Is Well With My Soul."

Pallbearers were Leland Alcock, Ted Cuvelier, Richard Mohn, Dale Cain, Eugene Maifeld and Sike Reints.

Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Memorials may be directed to Unity Presbyterian Church, rural Clarksville.

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock was in charge of the arrangements."
