Mrs. Mattie Lee Harris, age 85, died late Saturday night at her residence in Blackshear (Pierce Co) following a lengthy illness. She was born in Charlton County but had lived most of her life in Pierce County. She was a charter member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and was a retired homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Preston and Martha Clark Wildes.
She is survived by her daughter: Glenda Stillwell (husband Bill) of Lawrenceville, GA; 3 sisters: Julia Belle Dowling of Callahan, FL, Mary E. Mixon (husband Cecil) of Waycross, and Josiphine Bowen (husband Robert) of Blackshear; 3 grandchildren: Chris Stillwell (wife Cathy), Ken Stillwell (wife Lisa) and Steve Stillwell (wife Lisa), all of the Atlanta area; 5 Great Grandchildren: Corey, Nick, Brian, Autumn, and Carlie, all of the Atlanta area; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 11 AM in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7-9 PM. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Waycross.
