He was born March 12, 1915, at Dry Creek, son of William Victor and Nora Lawson Callantine on what is known as Brownell Ranch. He attended grade school at Dry Creek, graduated from Manhattan High School, and attended Montana State University.
He spent his life in the Gallatin Valley as a rancher and heavy equipment operator. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and bowling.
He married Flossie E. Kalar Kalkas who survives him in Manhattan. Other survivors include two sons, Gary Victor and Douglas William both of Denver, CO; a step-daughter, Sharon K. Christensen and five grandchildren all of Bozeman; two brothers, James L. Callantine, Prineville, OR, and Arthur Clay "Chuck" Callantine of Pass Creek; and a sister Mary Frances Callantine, Boulder Creek, CA.
