Stephen A. Dempsey, 73, Kansas City, KS died Saturday at the home. He was a life long Kansas City, KS, resident. Mr. Dempsey was a switchman for the Kansas City Terminal Railway Railway for 38 years before he retired in 1974. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Employees union. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Esther I. Dempsey of the home; three sons, Eugene Dempsey, St. Louis, Thomas Dempsey and Stephen J. Dempsey, both of Kansas City, KS; two daughters Mrs. Elaine Stroker and Mrs. Virginia Beal, both of Shawnee; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1pm. Monday at the church; burial in Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 pm today at the Fulton-Michael Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church or to the American Heart Association.

Steve Dempsey was the youngest son of James Thomas Dempsey and Mame Connors. His brothers and sisters are Nellie Steinhauser, Ethel Stocosky, Elizabeth Brown, James Thomas Dempsey Jr., William Dempsey, Eugene Dempsey, Mae Roberts and Catherine Boring.
