Jane was the only child of Calvin and Sigrid Skogland Dahlgren. She grew up in Ely, Minnesota and attended the Ely Memorial High School, Ely Junior College, receiving an Arts Degree and then attended the University of Minnesota. While both were attending the University of Minnesota, she married her high school sweetheart, Vincent R. DiNino, on Nov. 11, 1939. They had two daughters, Dinah (Rieves) and Carmen (Alspach). After some 30 years of Living in Austin, Texas where Vincent was the Director of the University of Texas Longhorn Band, the DiNino's moved to Fredericksburg, Texas.
