Velma M. Bell, 79, a rural Atlantic resident, passed away Saturday, April 18, 1992 at Cass County Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Frank R. and Dollie M. Yarger Garside, she was born June 2, 1912 in Atlantic. She was raised in Atlantic and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1930. She was married to Mose R. Bell July 8, 1931 in Blair, Neb.
She was survived by her husband, Mose; two sons, Robert Bell and wife Carol of Peoria, Ariz., and Bradley Bell of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Sondra Christensen and husband Mervin of Manning; eight grandchildren, Robert R. Bell of Peoria, Ariz., Brent R. Bell, Sheldon S. Bell and Dacia Lerman and husband Arturo of Phoenix, Tonya Bell of Houston, Texas, Starre Ann Haney and husband William of Mesa, Ariz., Renee Stangl and husband Dale of Manning, and Michael Christensen and wife Bobbi of Storm Lake: seven great grandchildren, Nicholas Lerma, Justin Bell, Nathan Stangl, Nicole Stangl, Patrick Haney, Breann Haney and Courtney Haney; a brother, Earl H. Garside and wife True of Atlantic; a sister, Isabelle Wandling of Des Moines; a brother-in-law, Mack Bell and wife Maxine of Atlantic; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Scanlon of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eula McAfee and Ida Schwartz; and a brother, Harley Garside.
Services held at Roland Funeral Home Atlantic on Wednesday, April 22, 1992. Final interment Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
