Don Armijo is the son of Juan Nepomuceno Armijo and Rosalía Ortega. Don Armijo is the nephew of Governor Manuel Armijo. Don Cristobal Armijo had a fine home on South Plaza in what is now Old Town Albuquerque. It is adobe, but was plastered to look like brick and dates from between 1880 and 1886. It is currently the "Plaza Indian Trading Post".

"At an early hour Saturday morning Christobal Armijo died at his home in Old Albuquerque at the age of 82 years. Deceased was a nephew of Gen. Manuel Armijo, the Mexican governor of New Mexico, who was in command in the territory when the United States acquired the country, and was related to many of the leading families in the territory. The only surviving member of the immediate family is a daughter who lives in El Paso." (Santa Fe New Mexican, 1901)
